From [livejournal.com profile] karenmiller: If Hitler were around this summer, waiting for SPN season 5 like the rest of us:

I am a total spoiler-phobe when it comes to Supernatural, but I'm choosing to assume any spoilers mentioned in the video are fabricated and/or safe. Because it's just too awesome to not watch.

Sometimes fandom wank can make me just want to step away from the internet! But most of the time, being online is an amazing place to wallow in the creative talents that fandom inspires, and to appreciate how very generous the hardworking fans are at sharing the fruits of their labors with people they've never met.

One of my favorite things about fandom is when people come together to offer their skills to benefit charity, such as the 2009 Sweet Charity fund raiser that raised funds for RAINN this year. I want to do my part to help - and it's a complete pleasure when the act of giving brings me something so awesome and unique in return.

What I won... )

Title: River of Blood
Rating/Warning: SPN gen (PG-13)
word count: 42K, not counting author notes
spoilers: set early in season 3, just after episode 3.03 Bad Day at Black Rock
Summary: A summoning ritual backfires. Instead of drawing the restless spirit of Corporal Leamon Griffith to them, Sam and Dean find themselves catapulted to the side of a young Union soldier, just hours before he goes MIA - in 1863.

(i.e. I throw the boys into the Civil War. Themes of courage and honor, sacrifice and forgiveness follow them wherever they go, apparently.)

My thanks to [livejournal.com profile] miz24601, who scrutinized every blessed word for things that might make a reader stumble or snore (I think I owe you a new red pen, Lisa!); and also to [livejournal.com profile] shallowz and [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11, who then read the whole story in one fell swoop when it was finished and provided additional invaluable feedback. (Of course, none of them have seen the final final draft after my tweaks, so all mistakes are my own.)

I'm kinda stunned (in that glowy way)! The first thing I ever posted on LJ was my first SPN fic Lifeline, and it was just announced as the winner in the Best Hospital Visit category of the Holiday 2008 Limp!Sam Awards.

(I have to admit, I loved all their wacky categories. And enjoyed reading so many of the nominees! So kudos to the contest organizers, and if you're looking for some satisfying h/c, look no further than here.)

Thank you to everyone who has read Lifeline, commented on it, nominated it or voted for it!

And to anyone who has ever beta'd my stories, you know unbeta'd words can't adequately express my heartelt gratitude. *g*

babbling about other fic goals )

Wishing everyone (friends and lurkers) a 2009 filled with satisfying reading and TV experiences!

Posting here so I can find it whenever I want - and watch it over and over and over ...

It's by [livejournal.com profile] ash48 and it's brilliant!  Links to downloadable versions are here at her LJ.
